Joseph (Joe) Barforoush is currently a Ph.D. candidate and graduate research assistant in Professor Kevin Leonard’s laboratory. Due to increasing demands for carbon neutral energy, the electrochemical conversion of renewable feedstocks to fuels is central to his research. His work is focused on developing low-cost, efficient, and stable electrocatalysts from earth abundant materials for the water-splitting reactions. In addition, Joe utilizes scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) to identify the characteristics of a material that contribute to high electrocatalytic activity. Wherever his career takes him, he is dedicated to a future in sustainable energy that does not compromise the state of the earth or its inhabitants.
